On March 27, Fetty Wap is set to drop Zavier, marking his fourth studio effort and his first major project since regaining his freedom from federal custody earlier this year. The New Jersey-born artist was given a six-year sentence in 2023 following a drug trafficking conviction, and now that he has returned, he is reflecting on his identity and the current state of his life.

“People assume losing the wealth is the toughest part,” remarks Fetty—whose birth name is Willie Junior Maxwell II—in the teaser. However, he clarifies that it was far more painful to be deserted by those who valued him solely for the resources he provided.

“When you're stripped of everything, the individual your mother named is all that remains,” he states. “You’re welcome to call me Fetty, but those close to me use the name Zavier.”
