Laufey Wrestles With Addictive Love On New Song “How I Get”

Laufey is rapidly rising to mainstream fame, even if most folks struggle to say her name correctly. Just recently, she secured her second consecutive Grammy award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, recognizing her third studio effort, A Matter of Time. Come April 10, she plans to unveil a special deluxe edition titled A Matter of Time: The Final Hour.
Today, the Icelandic-Chinese jazz-pop sensation offers a taste of The Final Hour with her latest track, “How I Get,” a song she co-wrote and produced alongside her frequent musical partner, Spencer Stewart.
“How I Get” serves as a poignant orchestral-pop ballad exploring the experience of becoming fixated on someone, despite usually keeping a rational head in other life matters. During the first verse, Laufey recognizes her growing vulnerability, yet she finds herself powerless to halt the descent.
The human spirit is odd
I’m aware you’re no good for me
And I’m rarely prone to anger
At least it doesn't come easily
Has obsession taken hold of me?
